Since the Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program (SSEAYP) was incepted in 1974, the program has produced more than seven thousand ex-participants throughout the ASEAN countries and Japan. As one of the SSEAYP major events, SIGA is organized on a rotation basis by the respective Alumni Associations as the host country with the main purpose of promoting continued friendship and cooperation amongst the ex-participants of SSEAYP. Cambodia, upon its full participation in the program in 2000 and establishment of its alumni in 2004, takes pride to host the event in 2007 in Siem Reap, the city of more than 1,000 ancient temples, including Angkor Wat temple, one of the world’s seven wonders. It will be the first ever International General Assembly of SSEAYP to be held in Cambodia. It opens up the opportunity for SSEAYP ex-participants to tighten their friendship, and, at the same time, explore and appreciate the culture of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the land of ancient god. Because of its participation in SSEAYP as late as 2000, there are a lot of batches who did not have a chance to get to know Cambodia, and this is certainly a good chance experience the culture of this nation. SSEAYP International Cambodia has honor to host this significant event. Our expectation of the 19th SIGA is that it provides a conducive platform for the participants to meet again, interact, explore and envision their future cooperation.
